Danielle Kirk

Danielle Kirk is a sixth generation Appalachian from the Tug Fork region. She grew up in Williamson, West Virginia and moved to Martin County after graduating. She has been involved with many organizations and advocacy groups that focus on a more equitable future for Appalachians, from her work  in Charles Bookers’ 2022 US Senate campaign as a Regional Coalition Director, to her continued work post-election with Hood to the Holler as a community organizer empowering Kentuckians to build safer communities. She has always remained deeply rooted in her community.

Danielle also spends much of her time sharing the beauty and complexities of Appalachia as a social media influencer. Her goal has always been to shine a light on the region’s history, and to share the spirit of Appalachians in an authentic way. She has found that sharing those stories have not only inspired her, but also her fellow Appalachians.
